A little piece of Italy, right in Soest

Our story with gelato began in 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal.

That's where I first discovered the craft and passion behind authentic Italian gelato, together with my brother, who was already a gelato maker. What started as an experience alongside my brother grew into a passion that has stayed with me ever since.

Over the years, that passion became stronger and eventually became something my wife and I shared together. We travelled through Italy, visited different gelaterias and continued to discover more about the world of Italian gelato.

We didn't want to rely on passion alone — we wanted to learn the craft professionally. That's why both my wife and I trained at the Carpigiani Gelato University in Italy, where we further developed our knowledge and techniques for making artisan gelato.

When we moved to the Netherlands in 2023, we saw how much people here appreciate good artisan ice cream. The dream that had started many years earlier in Lisbon suddenly felt possible again.

We started looking for the right place to bring that dream to life — and eventually we found it in Soest.

That is how Gelato Mio was born: a story that began in Lisbon, grew over the years through passion and experience, developed further through our training in Italy, and finally found its home here in the Netherlands.

Today, we make our gelato with the same passion that started this journey back in 2010, combined with all the experience and knowledge we have gained along the way.
